Last weekend saw us play host to the chaps from Dukes Cupboard. The vintage designer experts held a weekend Pop-up. They took a break from their normal Soho spot to bless Brick Lane with some gems. After the first days trading, we welcomed Dukes and co in with some drinks in store. We want to thank the strong turnout of friends and customers it was a pleasure to see so many friendly faces. Of course, we can't forget Hop House 13 & Captain Morgans for keeping the drinks flowing for the evening. With some great retro & vintage sportswear on...

Posted by DRAY WALK

Last but by no means least in our Staff edition of Just Popped in to say hello is the head honcho, Jake. As the mastermind behind everything Number Six it's fair to say Jake probably has some nuggets of wisdom to share when it comes to the world of menswear & retail. We sat down and grilled him with our usual few questions. The answers.. What do you do? Jake: Window Washer / Cleaner at Number Six Your house is on fire, what do you save? Jake: As many clothes as I can carry! And my Camera... What are you...

Joe: Always Here To Say Hello

Posted by DRAY WALK

Here we go, the latest of our Just Popped in to say hello feature. This time we have grilled our longest standing member Joe.  After two years at Number Six doing nearly every role it's safe to say he knows the place like the back of his hand. As Buyer Joe is responsible for providing all the delights we have to offer in store and online. Never to be seen without a hat, according to him due to his hairline, we wanted to get behind his trademark and find out a bit more about his wardrobe. We asked him our...

Jan | Always Here To Say Hello

Posted by 2

Just popped in to say hello is an old haunt of ours. To relaunch this part of the blog we thought we'd start with a little introduction to the team here at Number Six. We've come up with a couple of quick fire questions that hopefully really get to the core of some of our most valued customers as well as the many designers, brand representatives and creative people we meet on a day to day basis in store. Without further or do we start with Jan. Having been with us a while now Jan is in charge of all...

Le Swine | Shoreditch Guide

Posted by 2

When we first heard of Le Swine and their self-professed "best bacon butty in town" we feared the boldness of their statement. Would this be another claim too large for any one street food van? A good amount of bacon sandwiches later and you've probably worked out our thoughts on the whole situation. It turns out the bacon butty is in good hands. James, the man behind Londons best bacon butty knows a thing or two about food. He worked under Bruno Loubet (chef extraordinaire) in Clerkenwell for five years. It's fair to say he has earnt his stripes. Though...

SEVERAL; SS17 at London Collections

Posted by 2

The Several SS17 show at London Collection Mens was another nod to times gone by. Set in a yellow and white cafe, the show offered a retro palette even Wes Anderson would envy. The brands attention to detail did not fall short at the clothing. Vintage magazines and papers alongside toast on the table all served as parts of the Several time machine. Furthermore the clothing featured was just as much a tip of the hat to Britain of post war times. Utilitarian work wear teamed with the aspirational trench coat & sunglasses blended industrial styles of the early 20th...

Making a Splash

Posted by 2

As we are sure you are all aware by now, we have the Our Legacy Splash collection in store and online. Splash SS16: In celebration of the scandinavian giants mid season collection we wanted to share some of the look book pictures and start looking ahead to hazy days in the sun. The mid season drop this summer is inspired by the good old fashioned tourist. Lightweight fabrics and bold print shirts all give a much more fashionable reminder of the holiday maker. Perfect for racing your towel down to the sun loungers, getting lost in a map trying to...

Number Six Says - The Great Outdoors

Posted by 2

It's starting to get to that time of year, the weather is swaying  and spring has mostly sprung. For us we are starting to think about enjoying ourselves a little bit. We can't wait to get outside and enjoy some of the great outdoors come rain or shine. We are city dwellers here at Number Six that's not to say we don't enjoy our fair share of Mother Nature. London being one of the greenest cities in the world in respect of it's commons, parks and public gardens means there is a lot to do that's not including the world...

Attention To Detail: The Work Jacket

Posted by 2

For any of you with a keen eye you might have noticed we are partial to a work Jacket at Number Six. Now I can think of many things to thank the French for like French bread, the 1998 world cup winning squad and mime artists, however Work Jackets have to top that list. The History: Originating in France, the work jacket was a staple of the French countryside. The most well known form of the work jacket is the "Bleu de Travail" jacket, this is the iconic jacket with heavy indigo dye. This jacket became prominent in France and throughout...

Sunglasses - Effortlessly Cool

Posted by 2

Minimal effort with maximum effect sounds like a dream to us (when it comes to getting dressed anyway). With it getting hotter who couldn't do with some tricks to conserve energy. Bob Dylan, The Blues Brothers, James Dean and Lour Reed are all testament to what a good pair of sunglasses can do for a man. [caption id="attachment_6324" align="aligncenter" width="1000"] Bob & that other cool guy Andy in Sunglasses...[/caption] It's a hard one to get right but we like to think once you've found the right pair of sunnies they'll be with you for life. So as a gentle nudge...
