Wet-weather enthusiasts: your time is now.
Built to see you through even the rainiest of British summers, Rains are Denmark’s answer to fully-waterproofed clothing and accessories.
If you didn’t already know, Rains develops and manufactures contemporary rainwear. All their gear is made from a lightweight-yet-strong polyester fabric that’s backed with a flexible polyurethane coating. The fabric is bonded together through ultrasonic welding (yes, really) which ensures a fully waterproof finish.
What’s more, all of their hardware, zips and trims are also made from materials that lend themselves to the rainier climes. Their use of stainless steel is no accident: arguably, it’s the most environmentally-friendly metal thanks to its corrosion-resistance, and high-recycled content.
By developing products that are both safe to wear and durable, there is less need to replace. In the long run, this means that all Rains products have a reduced impact on the planet. With this in mind, it’s only fair that we hold up our end of the deal, and maintain our stuff properly.
As always, Rains have done most of the hard work for you. Their rainwear, bags and accessories are all self-cleaning when you use them. They recommend “an occasional rainy rinse” as being more than enough to freshen up your gear, but for anything more hard-wearing (think stains and soil) a light spot-clean will do the trick in no time. Not only does regular surface rinsing keep it looking fresh, it also promotes the natural breathability of the fabric and re-vamps the vibrancy of the colourway. Now that’s a real win-win.
The latest addition to their already-impressive roster of technical fabrics is the Ultralight collection. Delivering their lightest waterproof fabric to date, the collection is weightless, breathable and, of course, 100% waterproof. We’re heralding it as the answer to all of our rain-related problems.
The Ultralight Jacket is made from their signature ultra-lightweight, breathable fabric. Part of their classic design, this one has been developed to withstand really wet weather, while still allowing the wearer to be active, on-the-go and keep the look together. At only 95g per m2, we’re not kidding when we tell you that you can roll it up, store it away, take it anywhere and always be prepared to face the weather head-on.
