Manufacturing in the United Kingdom

So, back in the late 1700s, the UK was like the OG of the Industrial Revolution, kicking off a major manufacturing vibe that helped boost the economy big time. But as time rolled on into the latter half of the 1900s, manufacturing started taking a backseat, and the UK started getting more into the service game.

But hey, don't count manufacturing out just yet! It's still a big player in international trade, making up almost half of the UK's goods exports in 2014.

As of June 2010, about 8.2% of the UK's workforce was in manufacturing, pumping out around 12% of the country's total output. And if you're wondering where all these manufacturing pros are at, well, the East Midlands and West Midlands were leading the pack, with around 12.6% and 11.8% of their peeps working in manufacturing. On the flip side, London was chillin' at the bottom with only 2.8% in the manufacturing game.
