Seasonal, modern, British cuisine is right at the heart of Shoreditch-based restaurant, Hoi Polloi. With its remarkably designed interior, the high ceilings and Art Deco fittings do justice to the carefully considered ‘modernist brasserie’ aesthetic. Hoi Polloi is the product of a partnership between the Ace Hotel London and their friends Pablo Flack and David Waddington of the unmistakeable Bistrotheque. Not only that, but every once in a while you'll find the Number Six team there, it's the best breakfast in town.
‘A very warm welcome’
The entrance is located through ‘That Flower Shop’, and makes for a very warm welcome. Filled with all the plugs and wifi you could ever need, it’s the ideal space to spend the afternoon with the laptop and a good dose of coffee. Thanks to Xavier Roide’s cultivated selection of orchestral music made specifically for Hoi Polloi, the whole experience is lifted to unique levels. Impressive to say the least.
‘Made with precision and care’
Whether it’s a Monday morning meeting or a late night supper, you’ll often find one of the Number Six team making the most of the brasserie. The menu is a simplistic offering of items made with precision and care across the board. Everything available is fresh, well-presented, nutritious and unbelievably tasty. As well as this, the staff are attentive, warm, and provide a personable service quality at all times.
‘Bringing people together by breaking the bread’
The team behind the restaurant say the bigger the group of diners, the better the menu. There are things to be shared amongst both new and old friends. It brings people together from all over the world via that age-old method of simply breaking the bread. The drinks are not to be ignored either. Offering a full bar selection, tea from the Rare Tea Company, coffee from Allpress Coffee, and fresh juices from the East London Juice Company. We think it’s fair to say that they know what makes a good place to eat, and they do it very well.
